This is the only opportunity to try out. There are no tryout makeup dates.
Within each age division (except Rookies, Freshman/Sophomore Girls, and Collegiate),
we offer kids the opportunity to be chosen to play at a higher competitive level
within their age division. Those who wish to play at that level need to attend a
tryout session.
Selection for the National and American divisions will be done by our designated
coaches. These coaches will have the opportunity to evaluate the skills of participants
based on a demonstration of their skills. We have established a routine
that all players will be asked to complete. Coaches will evaluate the individual
performances and make their selection in our draft, which takes place on the day
following tryouts. Players not selected in the draft WILL be placed on one of our
non-drafted teams.
Tryouts are NOT MANDATORY, although we encourage all players to try out. Tryouts
are a mechanism for equalizing competition among our players.
The time required to check in, wait for one's
turn and complete the tryout routine is subject to the number of participants who show
up at the same time. There are two sessions to accommodate those kids who have some
other planned activity. Without an extended wait, 45 minutes should be more than
adequate time to complete the entire process.
The net result of a successful draft is that the better players in each age division
will have the chance to compete against one another. The non-drafted leagues will
ordinarily become less subject to the disruption of having a player of clearly superior
skills dominate the leagues.
The disadvantage of being chosen for a drafted team is the possibility of playing
slightly less than 50% of each game. Conversely the best of the best will ordinarily
play slightly more than 50% of the time.
Eligibility Requirements
In order to be eligible for tryouts and the draft we must have your player application
